| A SeaKey® equipped boat can potentially cost significantly less to insure. Some carriers offer up to 10% discounts on insurance premiums, which in many cases itself pays for the SeaKey membership. One such example is NBOA. Why do the boat insurance carriers believe in SeaKey? For the same reason you do, to decrease some of the risks inherent in boating.
SeaKey’s features help to keep you safe with monitoring for SOS messages and for other alarms such as “high water” alarm. When an alarm is activated, your position and boat information is transmitted to the SeaKey Response Center who speeds assistance to your exact position. This is much more efficient and cost effective then wide search patterns to find a distressed vessel. One fisherman didn’t discover that he was taking on water until rescue workers dispatched by the SeaKey Response Center, pulled up beside him. Read more at “SeaKey Success Stories”.
When you are away from the boat, activate the GeoFence and Key Switch Activation alarms. SeaKey will receive a signal from the boat of unauthorized movement of your vessel, allowing us to notify you and the authorities quickly. SeaKey has an excellent recovery rate: 100% for all SeaKey equipped vessels that had their GeoFence alarms activated at the time of theft. The high water alarm allows you to check on your vessel before water can cause significant damage or worse.
Two progressive insurance carriers have eagerly endorsed SeaKey, NBOA and ACE Recreational Marine Insurance. More insurers are currently evaluating the system, and some of our members have negotiated discounts on their own. Check out what these insurers have to offer; we’re sure you’ll be pleased.
